Ruth Lawy-Lewis Memorial ‘Volunteer of the Year’ Award

Having lived with multiple sclerosis for many years, Ruth worked with Speakeasier to establish the post of Client Liaison Officer, developing many of Speakeasier’s systems. In her role as Client Liaison Co-ordinator, Ruth was involved in supervising a well-trained team of Client Liaison Officers to stay in touch with our clients and keep track of the speech aids. When Ruth retired from her CLO Co-ordinator role to concentrate on her other voluntary work, she remained as a consultant continuing to assist Steve with a variety of special tasks.

Sadly Ruth was diagnosed with terminal cancer during 2010 and passed away on 5th November the same year. In recognition of her enormous contribution, Speakeasier has created the "Ruth Lawy-Lewis Memorial Volunteer of the Year" award, to be presented annually to an outstanding Speakeasier volunteer.
